Regarding Prensky's Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants
No sound for the 2nd one, but it gives a good, relatively quick overview of digital native/digital immigrants. This is not a concept everyone accepts fully, but there are a number of points that fit well into today's educational theories and concepts. We may not want to go in this direction with our project this week, just a thought.
here are some videos I looked up on Marshall Mcluhan - was thinking that perhaps we could include one or some of them to enhance our summary or discussion of his article? sorry - couldn't figure out to embed them (I need to get better at wikis!), so here are the links to them: (For this wiki, click the Widget tool, then select Video from the left menu. You need to copy the embed share link from YouTube; I'm done this for my 2 favourites)
Video #2 - Marshall McLuhan on the Today Show- his thoughts on a presidential televised debate, how it was too 'scripted', how he argued that the people organizing the debate had no idea what the medium was about - this clip is a bit long, don't know if it is off-topic (I watched earlier - a bit long & off topic I think)
Video #5 - Interview with Marshall McLuhan - I didn't gain any better insights into his thoughts after listening to this one.
